The future of a Lewis County village will be in the hands of voters.
This after Harrisville Trustees voted 4-1 in favor of moving forward with dissolving the village into the town of Diana.
According to the Watertown Daily Times, the lone vote against the measure was from Mayor Gary Williams, who reportedly said he wanted to "chew on it" and wasn't ready to cast his decision.
Previously, a study from the Development Authority of the North Country indicated dissolution would lower tax rates significantly for current village residents.
Up next, officials will have to set up a public vote, which likely will happen within the year.
