Two Lewis County families are homeless following a fire inside a duplex Thursday afternoon.
According to fire officials, an upstairs tenant of the house in Lyons falls noticed a "smoking fixture" and then moved quickly to get everyone out of both apartments inside the structure.
By the time the Lyons Falls Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene, the entire second-story and the attic were all fully engulfed by flames.
The American Red Cross was called in to provide assistance to both families.
