Some good business news for a company with several locations in the area: Walmart is raising its starting wage to $11 for all hourly employees nationwide. With officials crediting the White House tax overhaul for the change in payment policy.
Currently, Walmart employees throughout the country make an average of $9 per hour, which increases to $10 after training is completed.
In a statement to employees, Walmart's CEO said the new, lower business tax rates that President Donald Trump and Congress recently approved expedited some of the mega-retailer investment plans.
The news comes as Walmart plans to shutter several of its sister Sam's Club locations throughout the country.
