Fire department union says Watertown officials ducked meetings
Posted by news on 11/14/2017 4:18:00 AM.
The union representing the city of Watertown fire department says it has attempted to come to terms on a new contract, but city officials have purposely avoided meeting.

In a series of emails dated from March, the fire union claims City Manager Sharon Addison refused to allow for a mediator into the stalled-out negotiations.
In emails viewed by Stephens Media Group News Director Matt McClusky, Addison appears to write, "I do not want the rest of the team" (end quote) at any potential meeting, and instead asks for an "off-site" meeting with the union president.
The union's local leader called the request to meet without other members of the negotiating teams a "lack of sincerity in securing an agreement" and that it went against "decades of protocol."
