Thousands will pay respects today to fallen state trooper Joel Davis, who died last Sunday after he was shot while responding to a call in the town of Theresa.

7 News reports that a procession from Reed and Benoit Funeral Home in Watertown traveled to Fort Drum yesterday which included officers from the Evans Mills and Theresa police departments, officers who worked with Trooper Davis. Sheriff's deputies from St. Lawrence, Lewis, and Oswego counties are out on patrol Friday and Saturday in Jefferson County to allow the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department to attend calling hours and the funeral service at Fort Drum's Magrath Sports Complex. People who want to attend today's funeral must use the 45th Infantry gate off State Route 26. Signs will guide people from routes 3 and 11. Post officials say no ID is needed to enter Fort Drum for the funeral, which starts at 1 p.m. and will also be at the sports complex. Governor Cuomo will be among those in attendance.
